I felt a host of emotions this morning when I learned the news of Maya Angelou’s death. Loss and sadness were primary, as they are when a person with such a vast and meaningful impact is gone. I find comfort in the words she left behind; they offer sustenance and remind us of the joy she placed in our hearts.

I will, with much trepidation, try a Six Word Story for Maya Angelou:

Mourning singular voice,
grateful for inspiration.

And, I leave you with her reading of “On the Pulse of Morning,” delivered at Bill Clinton’s first presidential inauguration in 1993…
